How do Lutron shades work?

Lutron shades contain a small, whisper-quiet motor in the shade’s headrail. This enables you to adjust your window coverings using a remote, keypad, tabletop control, or mobile app. They can also be set to an astronomic time clock that automatically adjusts them based on the rise and fall of the sun.

Can Lutron shades be integrated with smart home systems?

Yes, we can integrate Lutron shades with all the major smart home platforms, including Control4, Crestron, and Savant. This helps you get various devices working together. When the shades lower to protect your home from direct sunlight, the lights brighten to ensure the ideal illumination. When you press an ‘Away’ button, your window coverings close while the lights dim and the doors lock.

Are these shades battery-powered or hardwired?

Lutron offers both wire-free, battery-operated systems and hardwired solutions. Hardwired solutions are often preferred in new builds when the wall is still open, and wiring can be easily integrated.

Battery-powered options are ideal in renovations and remodels, saving the expense of costly tear-outs. Their highly regarded signature Palladiom roller shades, designed to be installed without a pocket, fascia, or recess, come in wired and wire-free systems.

What fabric and style options are available?

Lutron offers eight styles of motorized window coverings in over 1,000 fabrics curated from world-renowned textile manufacturers. The styles include:

  • Drapery Tracks: Available in pinch pleat or S-fold curtains, these draperies are made with your own material, allowing for complete customization that coordinates with your home’s interior design.
  • Roman Shades: These shades are popular among designers and homeowners due to their stylish, elegant aesthetics.
  • Horizontal Sheer Blinds: These blinds combine the beauty of sheer fabric with the precise control of sunlight offered by blinds.
  • Wood Blinds: The slats on wood blinds automatically adjust throughout the day, letting in the sun's diffuse light while protecting your home from harsh UV rays.
  • Honeycomb Shades: These shades create an insulating layer by trapping air in honeycomb-like air pockets. The Department of Energy reports that honeycomb shades can reduce heat loss in the winter by up to 40% and minimize solar heat gain in the summer by up to 60%.
  • Tension Shades: These custom shades are designed for skylights and architectural windows.
  • Roller Shades: Roller shades come in sheer, translucent, and blackout weaves, enabling you to retain your outside views while letting filtered sunlight in or blocking light from entering.
  • Palladiom Roller Shades: Lutron’s signature line offers elegant sophistication and ideal solutions for modern or industrial aesthetics.

Are Lutron window coverings customizable?

Yes, these window coverings are customizable in numerous ways, including the material and style. They are also scheduled to adjust throughout the day based on personal preferences, such as opening at sunrise and lowering when the sun sets.
